Culture tip: Visit Neues Museum
If you want to get to know Berlin a little better, why not spend an afternoon at one of the city’s many wonderful museums? Berlin has an incredible cultural landscape, and exploring it is a great way to discover the city beyond its streets, cafés and nightlife.
One place we particularly recommend is Neues Museum on Museum Island. Home to the Egyptian Museum and fascinating collections from prehistory, early history and antiquity, the museum takes you on a journey through thousands of years of human history. And, of course, it is home to one of Berlin’s most famous faces: the bust of Nefertiti.
We recently visited the museum ourselves and really enjoyed the current exhibitions. It’s the kind of place where you can simply wander, look around and let yourself be surprised by what you find. You might discover something you knew nothing about before — and that’s exactly what makes museums so much fun.
Take a stroll past the Berliner Dom and through the Lustgarten, sit down for a coffee, and enjoy the atmosphere of the historic centre.
