Recap: Our cultural Events in 2025
2025 was filled with inspiring encounters, shared discoveries, and many memorable moments beyond the classroom. From art and history to neighborhood walks and cozy winter evenings, our social events brought students together and turned learning German into a truly shared experience. Here’s a little recap of the year:
The year began with a relaxed social evening at Bar Rotbart in Neukölln, where Katja and a group of wonderful students came together. It was a lively language evening full of engaging conversations and great energy.
Thank you to everyone who joined and shared their stories, experiences, and reflections on learning German and living in Berlin.
In May, Katja accompanied a group of our fantastic students to Yoko Ono’s exhibition “Dream Together” at the Neue Nationalgalerie.
Unlike many traditional exhibitions, this one invited visitors to actively participate: touching, moving, and playing were encouraged. Experiencing art in such an interactive and playful way was truly special. We loved both the artworks and the thoughtful curatorial concept.
On July 1, we set off on a neighborhood walk that perfectly captured the spirit of summer in Berlin—a wonderful mix of languages, cultures, and relaxed vibes.
From the Marheineke Market Hall to the waterfall at Viktoriapark, with stops at a Späti and time to unwind on the grass, the walk was a real highlight. As the snapshots show, the group was simply lovely.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for such a beautiful summer evening.
September brought another great experience with our gallery and bar visit in Neukölln. We explored a gallery and then spent the rest of the evening together in a cozy beer garden nearby.
This time, we visited Galerie Saalbau and its exhibition “n e b u l a”, which features a range of works by young artists and comes highly recommended. Afterwards, we headed to the traditional beer garden Zosse just around the corner, where we sat together, got to know each other better, and chatted about all kinds of topics.
Mechi accompanied the group and thoroughly enjoyed the evening with you all. Inspiring art, wonderful people, and engaging conversations—what more could you wish for from a language evening?
In October, our students embarked on a small Berlin adventure.
The first stop was the Tränenpalast (“Palace of Tears”) at Friedrichstraße, the former border crossing where many emotional goodbyes between East and West Germans once took place. Today, it is a powerful museum offering insight into Berlin’s divided past, the Wall, and everyday life during the Cold War. Visitors can explore original control rooms, learn about the Stasi, and gain a deeper understanding of this historical period.
Afterwards, the group continued to the famous Ständige Vertretung for drinks and some well-earned relaxation. This iconic Berlin pub, known for its political and cultural flair, provided the perfect setting to unwind and enjoy a piece of local tradition.
The final social event of 2025 took a group of students to several Christmas markets in Mitte. From the Wintermarkt at Schloßplatz, rich in culture and charm, past the Ferris wheel at Rotes Rathaus, to the Christmas market in the Nikolaiviertel, there was plenty to enjoy—from delicious treats to warming drinks.
The market in the Nikolaiviertel was a particular highlight, located in one of Berlin’s few historic quarters and loved for its especially cozy atmosphere.
A big thank you to all the students who took part in our social events throughout 2025. Your openness, curiosity, and enthusiasm made each outing special and turned these moments into truly memorable experiences. We’re already looking forward to many more shared adventures, conversations, and discoveries together in 2026!
