Some of you are maybe interested in German history and wondered about the Vietnamese community in Germany. The reasons and implications of the North Vietnamese migration are quite well-known for people in the East and many of you might have read something about it.
Gone are the days when graphic novels were for kids only. They bring us a wonderful combination of visual art and text which might be just what you need if long texts in German intimidate or bore you. Ignite your passion for reading in German with the help of illustrations.
Hanno has been taking part in a book club for more than a year now. The book club which meets once per week currently discusses „Männerphantasien“ (male phantasies) by German cultural theorist and writer Klaus Theweleit. The book is quite long and not always easy to digest, but highly recommended for everyone who wants to dig a little bit deeper into German culture, parting from a feminist perspective.

Our teacher Robert has gone to great lengths to write an informed and informative book review for our students. In this article, he introduces you to the book „Yesterday’s World,“ an autobiographical work by the well-known Austrian author Stefan Zweig (1881-1942).
If you want to learn more about German-language literature of the early 20th century, it is impossible to avoid this author and his work.
Who would have thought – a TV show on German television that is about a non-binary teenager? This time, we’d like to draw your attention to „Becoming Charlie“. Laura watched it, loved it and would like to encourage you to give it a try. 🌈
Our last gallery visit took us to Urban Nation, a very inspiring art space dedicated to street art and contemporary urban culture. Our group went on a rally through the whole space which expands over two floors, to discuss and discover the history and aesthetics of Berlin street art.
