On Friday 26th of July 2019, we hosted our first event in our Kreuzberg space: a combination event of an open house and a pop-up group show titled “Japanese Illustration in Berlin”. The exhibition featured beautiful work from our very own Transmitter student, Saki Nagatani, as well as Adim and Yuki Ando.
We had a great time hosting our students and friends, and met some new friends throughout the evening! Thanks so much to everyone who joined us, and especially to the artists who exhibited their work.
Seven years ago Transmitter was just an off-space project which started in a living room in Neukölln. Over the years, the school has blossomed and evolved, with all of your support. For that, we’d like to thank you dearly!
Today, after six years in our current space in Allerstraße, we are happy to announce the next important step of our journey: from July 15th, Transmitter will be moving to a new space in Kreuzberg.
„RECEIVER“, our group exhibition with ten international artists based in Berlin took place on the weekend of the 19th and 20th October 2018. The exhibition reflected on language, signs and symbols and their legibility. All artists offered their their own interpretations of the process of decoding language in its different contexts and environments.
In this exhibtion, our students and friends will show photos of projects they’ve been working on recently. The show features images of a variety of different works ranging from performances to design and typography to video editing. Our works are as diverse as our students and we’re superexcited to share a more personal side of us with you.
What comes after the tide?
Transmitter is delighted to present „Die Gezeiten“, an international group show, which reflects on the come and go of power, the fiction of borders and the roads of migration.
In a world drifting apart, where tension emerges in a clash of conflicting political, ideological and personal values, whether behind closed doors or in the form of political action, it is more urgent than ever to send out a clear message. Current issues such as the crisis in Greece and the Ukraine conflict reveal just how fragile the fabric of Europe and, ultimately, the fabric of our whole world is.
„Traute haben“
„You are scared of Hermannplatz!“ – an ironic and provocative quote circulating among the young hipsters and printed on surfaces of all kinds ranging from tote bags to decorative pins throughout the city.
Hermannplatz is the gateway to Neukölln, a kaleidoscope of various cultures and backgrounds, where Kreuzberg meets Neukölln, where old Berliners meet immigrants and a hip, urban audience faces the reality of a social hotspot.
THE PULSE UNDER MY SKIN was presented from April 1 to April 18, 2021.
The online presentation of art works was dedicated to the question of how the current circumstances have changed and affected our social and private lives, work and creativity. Following our exhibition program we usually host at Transmitter, we presented an online version of our art program this year.
Our last gallery visit took us to Urban Nation, a very inspiring art space dedicated to street art and contemporary urban culture. Our group went on a rally through the whole space which expands over two floors, to discuss and discover the history and aesthetics of Berlin street art.
Transmitter will be on Easter break from: 01.04. – 14.04. 🥳 Registration for our courses are possible online. But fear not: Andreas will be in the office during our break (from April 03) to help you with your registration. Just drop him a line.
Just in time for the start of spring, we are delighted to present ourselves in a new look! Rainbow colors, cheerful, modern and fresh – A new look was long overdue.
There are many platforms which offer language exchange in Berlin, but a lot of them are more interested in selling their commercial services than actually connecting people. We’d like to help you find your way through the jungle of organizations and companies – so here’s our list for anyone who’s looking for a tandem partner or for language exchange events to improve their speaking skills.
